Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Statement
White Sand Intelligence is built on a simple belief: technology should leave people freer than it found them. That belief does not stop at our clients. It extends to every person whose labour touches our business, however far up the chain they stand.
Our commitment
Modern slavery is a crime and a grave violation of fundamental human rights. It takes many forms: slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, debt bondage, and human trafficking, each of which strips a person of their liberty so that another may profit. We hold a zero-tolerance approach to it in every part of our operations and in every relationship we keep.
This statement sets out the steps we have taken, and continue to take, to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking have no place in our business or our supply chains.
Our turnover currently sits below the £36 million threshold at which section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 requires a statement. We publish one regardless, because a standard worth holding is worth holding before you are made to.
No advantage we build is worth a single person’s freedom.
About White Sand Intelligence
White Sand Intelligence Ltd is a UK-registered artificial intelligence company. We design and build bespoke intelligence systems for a select number of established businesses, shaped around how each one already works rather than forcing the business to bend around the software.
We grew out of the marketing firm Blue Ocean Social. We are registered in England and Wales under company number 17155303, with our registered office at 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX.
Our structure and operations
Our work is almost entirely knowledge work: research, software engineering, design, and advisory, carried out by our team and a trusted circle of specialists. We operate from London and engage directly with each client we take on.
We do not run manufacturing, warehousing, or field operations, and we do not rely on low-skilled, seasonal, or agency labour of the kind in which the risk of exploitation is most often concentrated.
Our supply chains
Our supply chain is short and overwhelmingly digital. It consists chiefly of cloud infrastructure and software providers, professional services such as legal and accountancy, and the occasional purchase of computing hardware and office equipment.
We recognise that risk can still exist beyond our direct suppliers, particularly in the manufacture of hardware and electronics, where chains are long and visibility is limited. We do not treat distance as an excuse for indifference.
Our policies
Our approach is held in a small set of clear policies, which we expect everyone who works with us to uphold:
Fair and lawful employment. Every team member’s right to work verified, and every engagement properly contracted.
A safe route to raise concerns. Anyone can speak up about wrongdoing, free from any fear of reprisal.
Clear expectations of our suppliers. We ask those we work with to operate to standards consistent with our own.
We keep these policies deliberately few and genuinely lived, rather than many and unread.
Due diligence
Before engaging a supplier, we consider the nature of their work and the parts of the world it touches. Our written terms require compliance with applicable laws, including the Modern Slavery Act 2015, and reserve our right to end any relationship where those standards are not met.
Because we work with a small number of suppliers, we are able to know who we are dealing with directly, rather than at the distant end of a long procurement chain.
Assessing and managing risk
Given the nature of our work, we assess our direct exposure to modern slavery as low. We are equally clear that low is not the same as none. Where an engagement involves hardware, physical facilities, or any form of staffing intermediary, we apply closer scrutiny before proceeding.
We keep this assessment under review as the company grows, and will deepen our diligence in step with our reach.
Training and awareness
Everyone at White Sand understands what modern slavery is, the forms it takes, and the signs that something may be wrong. Those responsible for engaging suppliers and specialists know what to look for and how to raise a concern. As we grow, we will formalise this awareness into structured training.
Measuring our effectiveness
We are still building the measures by which we will hold ourselves to account. Over time we intend to track the proportion of suppliers who have confirmed their commitment to these standards, the number of concerns raised and how they were resolved, and the reach of awareness across the team.
We will report honestly on that progress, including where we fall short.
Approval and signature
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes White Sand Intelligence’s modern slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 31 July 2025. It was approved by the board of directors.
